On September 19th, third graders at Mt. Airy Elementary School took hands-on learning to the next level by using edible materials to learn about the six simple machines. As part of the engaging activity, students built models of levers, pulleys, inclined planes, and more using pretzels, graham crackers, chocolate, Oreo cookies, lifesavers, and Twizzlers. The creative lesson allowed students to turn everyday snacks into fun, functional examples of levers, wheels, and axles. This activity helped students understand complex concepts in a way that was both fun and memorable.

Third grade student, Everly Hancock, explains her edible simple machines.
